OMG, what a miserable day I had! I started getting a headache sometime in the night, which was not helped by the littles waking every few hours for various things (future post on potty training twins coming soon!). Thanks to Daylight Savings Time (boo!) the new wake-up time around these parts is back to 5-5:30 (again), which is around when I started feeling reeeeeaaaaly crappy. Lonnie let me sleep in, which was thrilling in the moment but soon backfired, as I think I missed the window of "catching" the headache before it turned into a full blown migraine.
I was pretty much in bed the rest of the day — so sick, couldn’t keep anything down including meds, which was only OTC things anyway since I haven’t had these for so long. The saddest part was that Emma and I had a big date to see Pippi Longstocking at the Youth Theater Northwest today!!! They had graciously given us 4 free tickets (thanks to the blog), so we had lined up Emma’s good pal Edie and her mom to join us on what was Emma’s first real "show". I loved the Pippi stories as a kid, and like that she is such a strong spunky lead female character. We were both so excited!
Luckily, Daddy saved the day on so many accounts, including stepping in to take her to Pippi. The show must go on! Channeling her current fave Fancy Nancy, Emma wore her fanciest dress and hair accessories. Sadly, the camera I sent along had a dead battery, so we have no pics but as I heard it, Emma and Edie had a blast. It was a musical, featuring lots of local child actors, whom the audience could actually go up and talk to after the show. Emma has been SO into dramatic play and telling stories — I knew this would be right up her alley. Daddy enjoyed himself as well, and said we should definitely go back for future performances. We’re also putting the Pippi books on our list to check out from the library for bedtime read-alouds!

Back at home, I somehow held down the fort after E & D got up for nap, thanks mostly to nursing and their beloved Maisy DVD. When Lonnie and Emma returned I managed to find some old meds left over from childbirth (I know, bad idea, but hey, desperate times call for desperate measures!) and that combined with some soup Lonnie made for me turned things around for the first time in 12 hours. WOO HOO! In a few weeks I have a doctor appointment scheduled and I will definitely be asking for a new prescription of migraine meds to have just in case. Had I been on my own with the kids there is NO way I could have managed today!
Hopefully I will be totally recovered by tomorrow, because Auntie Em is coming over so Lonnie and I can have a "date afternoon" — I think we’re headed downtown to the market and to an early dinner somewhere fun. YAY! Can’t wait!
Just a note that while we did receive free tickets from the Youth Theater, I was under no obligation to review or post about it — they just had such a fun time I wanted to share it in case other Seattle folks were interested!
