Whew. Its been crazy around here. We are one birthday and party down, two birthdays and one party to go. Emma’s party was yesterday at her gym, and it was GREAT, pictures and recap coming soon. I was busy shopping, fixing up party favors, making the cupcakes and food (even though it was generally easy food) off and on for the past few days.
Then, just a few hours post-party, I headed out to do present shopping for Elsie and Delia, whose birthdays are Thursday. And then we’ll do it all over again on Sat with their party! Any food ideas for a casual outdoor kid party (with lots of adults)? Grill?
Though birthdays are fun, I am looking forward to June, when I will rest. And catch up with the rest of my life.

Potty training update: meh, so so. Lots of spills and accidents, though they can do it if I remind them tons. Need to be more hands-on and diligent. Feeling lazy about that. Gotta get on it!

We have regular sleeping through the night, now, HOLY MOLY! Exactly the same time that Emma started. However, this joyous event is subdued by the crack of dawn 5-5:30am waking most mornings. LAME LAME LAME. When do early-bird kids start sleeping in to, say, 7 or 8 am? Another few years? Not until they are teens? I’m giving them another few years and then they can get their own breakfast and let me sleep!

Spending lots of time volunteering with the multiples club, which is fun. But hard to fit in, sometimes! I am in charge of organizing playdates, outings, and get-togethers, and its amazing how just working out calendar issues and writing up event listings adds up. Right now we are trying to get regular events going, and get a plan going that will gain popularity (and regular attendance) and eventually hopefully sort of run itself. Or at least, not need my constant prodding to work! Organizing and meeting up with folks with twins can be HARD, because of logistical issues (two or more kids per family adds up fast, space-wise) and because its HARD committing to stuff and getting out of the house with twins. But its so nice to be with other folks who "get it" — truely sanity-saving in some cases.
And I really want Elsie and Delia to have some twin friends to play with, as they get older. That would be really cool, I think.

Lastly, I want to give a shout out to my awesome cousin and her husband, who are headed to Ethiopia THIS WEEK to meet their precious new baby girl. Hooray hooray! We cannot wait to meet baby B and hope the trip is super smooth and their first days together as precious and stress-free as possible. Safe travels! Can’t wait for some fun playdates later this summer!

The boys had a BLAST at the party–Mark is already thinking we should buy a zipline for the house and has begun to research it
Thanks for the shout out. I can’t believe it’s THIS week and that we’ll all be home as a family of FIVE in a week and a half. Bring on three under 4 (although you just graduated!).
I am all about using the grill for a summer(ish) party. It’s so much easier than anything else and you can easily mix up the food – chicken/fish on one side and veggies on the other…or whatever. I find giving parties exhausting…as is potty-training!
