So it appears Delia is on the road to potty training! She peed on the potty three times in a row on Tues, twice yesterday and twice today. Go D!
She would have done it more, I’m sure, if we had been home and I had been better about getting her to the potty regularly. She asks to try All The Time and I feel like a big meanie saying no sometimes, but man, its hard adding in potty time (and undressing, washing hands, redressing, etc) x 2 so many times a day! Because even though Elsie hasn’t quite made the connection yet, any time Delia wants to use the potty Elsie is right there NEEDING to as well. And there goes a good 10 minutes of our day…
I actually feel bad for Elsie — she sees Delia doing this and desparately wants to as well and she just hasn’t figured it out yet. With many milestones we’ve found the other twin can watch her sister and figure out what to do but this one, not so much. I know she’ll get it, and she has done it numerous times in the past (probably mostly coincidences or well timed due to parent involvement) but right now its kind of hard for her!
I was intending to wait until the weather warmed up some to do a big potty-training-naked-time blitz outside, a little after their 2nd birthday, but I feel like I should jump on this bandwagon now while the enthusiasm is there. Yesterday I barricaded them out of the living room and let them be diaper free in the kitchen and backyard (naked or in Elmo underpants, which the LOVED) since the weather is pretty good.
As much as I am excited to reclaim the changing table space downstairs (!) and cut back on laundry (we use cloth diapers), I do admit diapers are certainly convenient. I am not relishing having two very early potty trainers out and about in the world, ha ha! I do not intend to get them totally out of dipes quite yet, but we may be switching to (waterproof) cloth training pants and the occasional pullup sooner than I thought. Yay! and Yeeps!

Yay for potty interest! I totally understand the reluctance on your part though. Diapers really are pretty easy. You don’t have to worry about major accidents wherever you roam. I agree that it’s good to give them naked time now. Don’t want to lose that interest.
Good luck with the potty training! I potty trained my daughter at 22 months and and am now (3 months later) starting to work on it with her twin brother. It is exhausting and time consuming work (as you well know), but I think you’re smart to start now when their interest is high.
