Day Out with Mama

A few weeks ago, Emma and I went on an adventure sans babies — just the two of us.  Its so great to just get out with the big girl sometimes!  We took the bus from our house to downtown — something that is both fun and incredibly easy with one walking 3.5 year old, but would be totally overwhelming if it was me and three little ones.  I honestly don’t know how I would do it, since I would need the stroller for containment purposes!  Maybe they would let me roll on and park it up at the front???

Anyway, Emma and I hopped off the bus right in front of the store we were headed for a gift exchange (a coat for me, yahoo), then walked up to where we needed to go for a different shopping errand.  It was about 7 or so city blocks, which doesn’t seem like much at first, but was for a kid not used to city walking!  She did great though, and was quite inspired when she saw the holiday carousel that was still up and running near our destination.  Woo hoo!  It wasn’t actually open yet, so we ran up to do our other errand (exchanging Emma’s shiny shoes for different shiny shoes) and then hit the merry-go-round for some fun.

As usual, she was enamored! She thought a second ride was in order, but my wallet thought not.  So we crossed the street and went up to the food court for some lunch.  Then another walk down to catch the bus, and home in time for naps/quiet time.

Our outing was a success!  Its always fun to see the world through her eyes, especially since we don’t get downtown much, so everything (including escalators, big public restrooms, food courts, etc) are a novelty.  Hopefully, we’ll be able to many more trips like this in future!  It would be fun to take the little ones, too, maybe one at a time for a solo outings to start…
