So, Emma is a rather chatty one. Unlike her daddy, who had to be taught to talk in preschool (he has since become the opposite, however, so maybe it is inherited from him after all). Anyway, here are some of her current utterances that I want to remember…
up it! help it! (pick this/me up, help me with this)
Emma do it! Emma’s turn! (when she wants to do something herself)
pause it! (pause Sesame Street, recorded on DVR, so that she can use the potty/get a diaper change/get a snack/whatever. Ah, the joys of a generation that will never live with the inconvenience of live TV).
I need mama….get outta chair! (can you guess what I’ve been doing a lot of, lately?)
too lot! (too many, a lot)
oh, yeah! (whenever she agrees with something- it is always very enthusiastic)
see ‘ya, bye bye! (if she is pretending to leave, or she wants someone to go)
ABCD! ABCD! (anytime she notices writing somewhere)
One, two, three! (when she sees a group of something, or wants more than one of something)
dammit! (um, this one we are trying to eliminate. Really trying to push the word "rats!" as a substitute, and she seems to be obliging. Her baby doll (Google) seems to be the biggest curser in the family right now, however. Mama and Daddy are trying to be better examples. Ha.)
Favorite topics of discussion:
All! Things! Potty! Seriously, this kid could talk about pee, poop, diapers, the potty, wiping, diaper cream, and potty accidents all day long (but no, we are still nowhere near potty trained). Her dolls and animals get their imaginary diapers changed a million times a day, and they pee on themselves a fair bit too. Cute at first, less cute when she is discussing it all in line at Target, or at the grocery store, or whatever.
Sesame Street, and Elmo in particular. The story about how Big Bird tries to ride Elmo’s tricycle, and breaks it, because he is too big. Elmo and his "dinos". How Big Bird (a big and a tiny one) lives at our library (they have lots of stuffed animals in the children’s section) and how they sleep there (when we have to go, or when it is closed. She sometimes waves to them as we drive by it).
How Aiko (our dog) likes to swim in the water, and how Baby Beluga does too (she mentions this whenever she sees a glimpse of the Sound, which she does often around these parts). The story of when Aiko went bye bye in the car with Grandma (when we were selling our house).
Swimming (at the pool) with her friend Dawson, and more recently with Mama and Grandma, and how we wear swimsuits and take showers, and that there are cups and buckets there, and a boat that she rode in.

Kristin!
Oh, man, hadn’t checked back here in a while, apparently. Congratulations on your girl-packed pregnancy, this is very exciting! (And house congratulations, too…much afoot!)
And Emma is ridiculously beautiful and sounds like she’s doing fantastically well.
Finn and Dave and I send you our hellos!
I just saw your latest posts! Emma is soooooo smart!!!! I’m amazed by her conversations and thoughts. Can’t wait to see her again and you soon.
