Bits and pieces

House:  We are (probably) closing on the 11th!  So moving April 12-13th! Woo hoo!  The sellers agreed to pay for a new roof (!) and a redo of the bad plumbing in the basement bathroom/laundry room.  Whew, what a relief.   So, family & friends in the area — we’d adore some help if you have some time that weekend!  Luckily, its a short haul — less than half a mile!  There will definitely be unpacking jobs as well as heavy lifting (and kid entertaining is also very welcome) since I, sadly, can do little more than sit and direct at this point.  And maybe make some yummy snacks.

Pregnancy: Everything seems fine, though we’ll know more after our appointment tomorrow.  29 weeks and counting!  Thats getting close, yipes!

Emma: We had a breakthrough yesterday — for the first time in almost two months, we had no crying whatsoever with regards to daycare!  None in the morning at home when she realized what day it was, no fussing or refusing to go in the car, no crying when we got there, or when I left!  Whee!  She really does love it there, and was only crying/fussing for a few minutes when I left for the past few weeks, but man, its nice to not leave a crying kid finally.  When I pick her up, I really have to convince her to leave her friends and all the fun, and she has to give hugs and kisses to everybody and many of the toys in the room before we go.  Ha.

Right now, the plan is to continue having her go 2 mornings a week until the end of June, if the provider still has the room (that is slightly tentative, because she has numbers issues, but I think it will probably work out).  After that, we may extend if all seems to be going well, but I do have my name on another daycare’s wait list that is HALF A BLOCK from our new house, which would be quite convenient, to say the least (they may have space later in the summer, or in Sept).  I was kind of interested in switching her to a 2 year old preschool program at a really neat school in our neighborhood, but they just canceled their 2′s program so we will have to stick to daycare or other care arrangements if we feel the need until she is 3.  Which is fine, and what I originally intended anyway.

And lastly, sending tons of positive vibes to Emma K and her family over on MattK’s blog.  They are another Seattle family that had twins with TTTS, and have been dealing with WAY more than their share of rough times.  Keep up the fight, little Emma!!!!

  • Well, you are getting down to the wire on moving, and I sure wish I could be there to baby-sit, lift and unpack for you. I trust you were able to postpone jury duty indefinitely; also, hope Emma is continuing to love her schooltime. Hugs, M & D
