News, for a change…

Oh my dear internets, how I have neglected you! Please know it was only in action, but not thoughts; I have been composing posts in my head to you all week, but could not share them until now.

So…..the last I left you, we had received a nice bundle of fruits and veggies on our doorstep. Later that evening, we took some of them over to a dear friend’s, for a nice evening of corn on the cob, pizza, and Big Brother reality TV watching. Janelle lost, we were sad, but despite that fun was had by all. However, near the end of the evening, I started feeling a bit queasy from the smell of goat cheese and cigarette smoke. Hmmmm…..highly unusual…

I must admit there were a few other things that had led me to buy (online, mind you, as I refuse to add insult to injury by paying drugstore prices) a few pee sticks, which were stashed, unassumingly, under the sink. My cycle had started back in July sometime, but that wasn’t out of the ordinary, since on its own my body reverts to cycles of anywhere from 40 to 90 days or so, and sometimes up to a year (yes, you read that right, and it seemed like something of a blessing, back in the day).

But this time, I broke down, and peed on the stick.
It came up positive, right away.
First time ever.
Holyfuckingshit!

After an agonizingly long weekend, in which our clinic only answers phones for emergencies (I considered seriously if this was one, and determined, sadly, it was not) we got in on Monday for a beta (blood test). Came back at 28,624! Back in the IVF days, I was hoping for anything above 15, so that was definitely good news. Progesterone was a lowly 8.75 however, so I was instructed to start supplements (which I had, of course, from a previous cycle). An ultrasound on Weds. showed a sac, fetal pole, and heartbeat. All looks good, says Mr. RE. 6w3d then, so about 7w2d now. The kicker will be the next ultrasound, at 8 weeks, to see if things are growing appropriately.

Did I say before HOLYFUCKINGSHIT?
That is what we are still thinking, btw.

More soon, stay tuned…
